Crogan's March animated!

So I have a friend,  Chris Schweizer. He is a kindred spirit indeed and an amazing cartoonist! Check out his two incredible books from Oni Press Crogan's Vengeance, and Crogan's March (I wish I could have  illustrated a chapter in both). Anyway, I had been wanting to draw his characters for a long time, the subject matter is so far up my alley that it seems like it could have been plucked from subconscious, and I finally sat down to do something "finished".  So I thought "What would Crogan's March look like animated? Let's find out." Below you will see my attempt at creating an animation background and a cel. I've always loved the way these things looked in person and although it's a ton of work, you get something really cool as a finished product. All stages below. Thanks for writing such cool books Chris.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

CLICK ON IT TO READ!
Here's an old-e but a good-e Father of 3 comic strip. The punchline of the beginning of the strip was that my sons had an allergic reaction to the fat part of some dairy (usually involved a lot of pooping, weee). Anyway,...DON"T SHORT CHANGE THANKSGIVING! It's awesome.

ps I have lots more FO3 strips peppered throughout the ol blog, like here.

Mummy in color

So I decided to try out the ol "blue line" method of coloring. I tell my students about it, and it's been a while since I tried it so here it is (original line art here). For those of you who don't know what that is, I'll explain. First you just pencil and ink like normal, then you make a print of the art either in blue, or light grey (what I did here) and color with whatever media you choose. Then you marry the line art and color together (you used to do it by making the line art a transparency and laying it on top of the color, I just did that digitally).

Some new Sketch cards

So here's some new sketch cards. These were done as a watercolor demo in class, and the theme we chose was "monsters". They are each roughly business card size. Want one? Just 19.99 and more here.

Here's a piece I did as a trade. Never drawn Wolverine before, and I almost couldn't get past the hair. Roughly 10"x15" ink on illustration board. Want a commission for yourself? Contact me.
